The people in the Central and North Western Provinces have said that
the United National Party (UNP) is in for a good treat at the
forthcoming Provincial Council elections, Minister of Youth Affairs
Pavithra Wanniarachchi said recently.
"The opposition parties will not be able to deceive the public by
their false propaganda campaigns, adding that the public of the country
are well aware of the Government policies which are favourable for them.
The public will vote for the UPFA candidates in the fray for the
Central and North Western Provincial Councils", Wanniarachchi added.
It is the Government that took the gauntlet thrown by a terrorist
outfit to successive Governments of this country during the recent past,
Wanniarachchi said. The LTTE had been playing with the past Government
and after waiting for a long time, the Government had to fight it with
firearms in order to liberate the Tamil people in the East and the North
from its clutches.
The Government is successful and the people know that. Wanniarachchi
urged all people in the Hanguranketha electorate to co-operate with the
Government in building the country and bringing peace and prosperity to
the public.
The minister was sure the next Central Provincial Council will be
under the leadership of UPFA.
Minister Wanniarachchi was in Hanguranketha to meet local
functionaries and members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and its
allies aware of how to campaign for the UPFA candidates during the
pre-election period. |
