More JVP and UNP supporters are joining the SLFP as they are fed up
with their party leadership, Minister of Power Mahindananda Aluthgamage
said at an election meeting held at Nikaweratiya in support of UPFA
candidates contesting the Wayamba Provincial Council election recently.
Criticising the JVP leadership, he said the people would ensure that
the JVP (Somawansa group) will not win even a single Parliament seat in
the future. The reason being their political strategy is based on the
destruction of the present social order.
He said President Mahinda Rajapaksa was entrusted with the welfare of
the poor people as the Government is people-friendly.
The Government will soon resolve all problems of the people despite
obstacles and opposition.
Aluthgamage said that the SLFP has never lied to the people and will
never do so in the future.
"The jobs we provide will serve you as well as the Government", is
the policy of the UPFA under President Rajapaksa, who is acquainted with
the problems of the poor.
Rural Industries and Self Employment Promotion Minister S. B. Navinna
said although opponents made various allegations against the Government,
the poor masses are fully aware that the Government had not stopped the
development effort, despite the heavy defence expenditure incurred to
liberate the country from terrorism.
The people in the North would benefit tremendously from the
Government's economic policies when democracy is re-established there.
Wayamba PC candidate Nikawaratiya Ex-MP Somakumari Tennakoon said
that the Government is spending billions of state funds through the Maga
Neguma, Gama Neguma, Gemidiriya, Tharunyata Hetak and Samurdhi programs,
Channelling Vast funds to uplift the poor masses and to develop remote
villages neglected by previous heads of the State.
Tennakoon said the common man in the Kurunegala district is conscious
of the work the Government has performed under the Mahinda Chinthana to
uplift their living conditions. |
