Two housing schemes for public servants in Galle

Two housing schemes for public servants comprising 1088 units,
constructed at Habaraduwa and Wekunagoda will be declared open by March,
said Public Administration and Home affairs Minister and Deputy Minister
of Finance Dr. Sarath Amunugama.
Minister Dr. Amunugama said that the President Mahinda Rajapaksa also
stressed the importance of providing housing facilities to public
servants in a friendly environment. Because the public servants face
many difficulties in finding housing when they come to the main cities
for their duties following appointments and transfers.
He was speaking to the media yesterday to explain the present
progress of the two housing schemes to be constructed for public
servants at Wakunugoda and Habaraduwa.

The Minister said about 5000 houses are being added to fulfil the
housing shortage of public servants. The proposed housing scheme has
been extended to Kundasale and Colombo too. Construction work on these
scheme are in progress.
He said Cabinet approval has already been received for the
acquisition of land in Ragama for another housing scheme for public
servants.
The two housing projects in two different locations in Galle comprise
1, 216 units at Habaraduwa and Wakunagoda where 192 units of 4 storey
walk-up apartments for the Low Income Housing Group and 384 units of 4
storey walk-up apartments for Medium Income Housing Group are being
completed. |
