Rangpuhar dance and music ensemble to perform here
Rangpuhar, a dance and music ensemble headed by Ms. Shubhra Bharadwaj,
will perform at the Kularatne hall, Ananda College, Colombo, 10 on
Sunday, January 25 at 6.30 p.m.
They will also perform at Dharmaraja College in Kandy on Tuesday,
January 27 at 6.00 p.m.
The troupe's visit to Sri Lanka is being sponsored by the High
Commission of India in Sri Lanka and the Indian Council for Cultural
Relations (ICCR) to celebrate the 60th Republic Day of India.
Established in 1993. Rangpuhar Performing Arts is a Mumbai based
organization recognized by the Indian Council for Cultural relations (ICCR)
and Sangeet Natya Academy. It creates (produces and directs) shows for
events, festivals and sporting ceremonies and has created shows in more
than 30 countries with its artists. In the recent years it has worked on
various projects nationally and internationally.
Some of the ensemble's prominent recent projects include shows at the
Commonwealth Youth Games, Pune (2008) National Dance Festival, Seoul,
Korea (2007); Opening and Closing Ceremony of the 4th World Military
Games in Hyderabad and Mumbai (2007), Microsoft Vistas launch, Mumbai,
(2007); International Film Festival of India, Goa (2006); Opening
ceremony of Doha Asian Games, Qatar (2006); Edinburgh International
Festival, UK, (2004); Olympic Flame handing over ceremony, Athens
(2000).
