Trinity notch up their third win

Trinity College, Kandy cruised to their third outright win for the
seasons when they outclassed their home town rivals Dharmaraja College
by seven wickets in their inter-school cricket match concluded at the
Asgiria Stadium in Kandy yesterday.
Trinity who were 152 for 8 on the first day in reply to Rajans total
of 194 all out made good progress yesterday morning to declare at 200
for 9. Mohamed Sajeed made 54 while tail ender C. Devapriya batted with
aggression to score 37 valuable runs.
But the Rajans folded up rather tamely for 130 runs in their second
innings. Spinner and skipper Rushan Jaleel took 3 for 33 returning the
fine match figures of 9 for 85.
The Lions were set a victory target of 125 in 35 overs and they
reached the winning post with 7 overs to spare. Dilan Gangoda led the
way with an unbeaten 53 (9 fours) while Suresh Wickrema made 42.
Dharmaraja College 194 and 130 all out in 43 overs (Buwaneka
Ekanayake 37, Rahula Ekanayake 24, Rushan Jaleel 3 for 33, C. Devapriya
2 for 20).
Trinity College 152 for 8 wkts (overnight) - 200 for 9 dec. in 54
overs (M. Sajeed 54, C. Devapriya 37, Nuwan Karunaratne 4 for 32) and
127 for 3 wkts in 28 overs (Suresh Wickrema 42, Dilan Gangoda 53 not
out).
Antonians set for the hill

St. Anthonys College, Katustota look set for the hill in their
inter-school cricket match against Mahanama College which began at
Katugastota yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.30 a.m.
Taking first strike the Antonians closed their innings at 263 for 7
declared off 63 overs. Mahinda Perera top scored with 75 which had 10
hits to the ropes. Kasun Ekanayake scored 45 with 4 fours. At close
Mahanama were reeling at 91 for 6 and require a further 72 to avoid the
follow on.
St. Anthonys College 263 for 7 decl in 63.2 overs (Hiran
Wickramasekera 24, Dulash Kumarasinghe 18 retired hurt, Mahinda Perera
75, Jerome Siegertsz 38, Kasun Ekanayake 45, Adil Reyal 40, R. Nissanka

Mahanama College 91 for 6 in 30.1 overs (R. Waliranga 33, D. Supun

Kingswood in command

Kingswood College were in a commanding position at the end of first
day’s play in their inter-school cricket match for the P. H. Nonis
trophy against Wesley College, which began at the university grounds,
Peradeniya yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.30 a.m.
The highlight of Kingswood innings was a fine knock of 137 by Udara
Hettige who hit 15 fours and a six in an innings which lasted 206 balls.
Hettige was so much in command that while he was at the wicket he did
the major part of the scoring.
At close Wesley were struggling at 39 for 3 off 23 overs. They
require a further 143 runs to avoid the follow-on. It will be an uphill
task for them with three of the frontliners back in the pavilion. A
point of interest in the match was Kingswood’s skipper and off-spinner
Dharmaprema who took 2 for 13. He has now taken 50 wickets for the
season.
