Indo-Lanka relations reaching zenith
India’s relations with Sri Lanka have reached “an
unprecedented level of depth and quality today”, said Indian Foreign
Secretary Shivshankar Menon at his meeting with Foreign Minister
Rohitha Bogollagama yesterday, during his two-day visit to the
island.

Defeating terrorists
This week, the Sri Lankan Army said it had
captured the last piece of the northern Jaffna Peninsula, one of the
few remaining strongholds of the LTTE, a terrorist organization that
has waged a 26-year civil war that’s claimed tens of thousands of
lives, including those of a Sri Lankan President and an Indian Prime
Minister.

Iranamadu tank, sixth Tiger airstrip captured
Security Forces overran the Iranamadu Tank bund
and captured the LTTE’s sixth airstrip in Iranamadu yesterday
morning. Military Spokesman said troops of 57 Division advancing
East from A-9 road in the Vanni had taken total control of the
Iranamadu Tank bund.
