Army Commander Lt. General Sarath Fonseka and top officials from the Army Headquarters visited the Security Forces’ Headquarters in Vanni yesterday to evaluate the security situation and inquire about facilities provided to civilians arriving in the Security Forces held areas. Vanni Security Forces Commander Major General Jagath Jayasuriya and commanders of the 57, 58 and 59 Divisions and the Commanders of the Task Force II, III and IV accompanied the Army Chief. Army Commander Lt. General Sarath Fonseka made a special emphasis on civilians entrapped in uncleared areas during the meeting. The Army Commander was received by Vanni Security Forces Commander Major General Jagath Jayasuriya at the Vanni Security Forces’ Headquarters.
