Poya lecture

The Conference of Sri Lankan Malays (Coslam) will hold its monthly Islamic lecture series 'In the shade of the Holy Qur'an' at the YMMA Conference Auditorium, No. 63, Sri Vajiragnana Road, Dematagoda, Colombo 9 on Saturday, January 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.


Blood donation campaigns

The Development Lotteries Board has planned to conduct a series of blood donation campaigns throughout the country to assist Security Forces and Police who are on the verge of totally defeating LTTE terrorism and liberating the people of the entire north from terrorist clutches. This follows the great public response received to the blood donation campaign held at the DLB premises on November 25 last year on the theme 'Viruwanta Diri Denna Le Bindak Dandenna' said DLB Chairman and CEO Upali Liyanage.

The first in the series of these countrywide campaigns this year was held at the Colombo Town hall in collaboration with the Colombo Municipal Council yesterday (January 7) he said.


Islamic lecture

An Islamic lecture organised by Dharunnadhvah Lilkhairiyath, an association of Muslim men and boys, on the topic 'Islamic New Year' by Moulavi M. R. M. Farali (Al Hilmi) will be held on Poya Day, January 10, after Asar prayers at the Al- Ma'hadul Bukhariyul Kadirie Thakiya (Jamiul Falah Jumma Mosque) 178, Leyard's Broadway, Colombo 14.

The Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya Past Teachers' Association requests all teachers who have served the school to contact the principal.


Prayers

The recital of Badur Mowlood, will be conducted by Al Haj Moulavi M. T. Hillurudeen (Falahi) and Al Haj Moulavi A. B. M. Mubarak (Falahi) from January 8 after Magrib prayers and will continue until Isha prayers at the Nawala Jummah Mosque.

Prayers and religious lectures will be conducted on Sunday, January 11, at the Nawala Jummah Mosque.


 Get together

The annual get-together organised by the holders of National Diploma in Technology (1972 batch) of the Moratuwa University will be held on Sunday, January 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Siyapatha Hotel, Algama Road, Kurunduwatte, Dankotuwa.


Get-together

The get-together of the Past Students Association of the Ceylon Technical College, Maradana will be held at the Shalika Hall, Narahenpita, Colombo 5 on Sunday, January 11 from 11 a.m. onwards.


Dedication service

A Dedication service celebrating the year for 'Lay Leaders' has been organised by the Ceylon Bible Society. It will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 10 at the Salvation Army Church, No. 53, Sir James Peiris Mawatha, Colombo 2.


Census of N/E citizens

Arrangements have been made to hold a census on January 10 on all citizens from the Northern and Eastern Provinces who are permanently or temporarily resident in the Western Province but failed to be present at the previous census conducted on January 4, the Police Headquarters states.
