Ex-UNP MP, thousands join UPFA

Yapahuwa Ex-MP former Deputy Minister of Transport (UNP govt) H.B.
Abeyratne joined the UPFA with thousands of UNP supporters of Yapahuwa
electorate on January 1.
The Minister of Highways T.B. Ekanayake greeted him very warmly and
asked why you and your supporters think of joining us?
He said President Mahinda Rajapaksa is the only leader who protects
our motherland from the terrorists. That is why we flock around the UPFA
Lion Flag Abeyratne said.
Minister T.B. Ekanayake said our President came in to power with the
promise to stop the war and bring peace to the country. The President
has done this and yet there is now only a small area to reinstate peace
in the entire country.
We in the Govt. had not forgotten the development work. Because there
is a conflict we don’t make excuses to avoid development work because of
this.
He also said we accept that the public is facing problems because the
conflict and we also know that the public will always bear the hardships
that they face because they are aware that the Govt. is facing many
problem in its efforts to develop the country.
Yapahuwa Ex.MP who joined the UPFA H.B. Abeyratne said the leadership
of the United National Party is under pressure from its own
parliamentary members who are demanding a leadership change.
He said when I was in the parliament I gave 32,000 jobs to persons in
the Yapahuwa electorate without any party considerations. Abeyratne said
today the UNP was a bankrupt party.
