Monies collected from tax to be utilised for rebuilding - Minister Chandrasena

Speaking on the Nation Building Tax Bill, Minister S.M. Chandrasena said the monies collected from the tax is to be utilised for rebuilding the areas devastated by the three decades old war.

He said "When the forces advanced with their victories against LTTE it was obvious the roads, bridges, hospitals, schools and all other public assets in the North and East are destroyed. "Even the places of religious worship are being damaged. In order to develop these areas a lot of money is needed. With that objective the Government has suggested to impose a tax for nation building," the Minister said.
