Nation Building Tax Bill will improve infrastructure facilities in N-E - Minister Siyambalapitiya

Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Minister of Finance and State Revenue introducing the Nation Building Tax Bill in Parliament yesterday said the Bill was introduced in order to rebuild infrastructure facilities which were severely damaged due to the terrorist activities during the past 30 years in the North and East.

Not only the living standards of the people but also basic facilities and their rights too were denied as a result of the war.

This Bill was introduced at the request of the public. We formulated the Budget accommodating their proposals. The Government will reconstruct and renovate hospitals, bridges, highways, roads, and schools through this Bill. It will also help to improve infrastructure facilities in North and East. Small scale manufactures, all types of exports, and imports of the essential items have been exempted from this tax, the Minister added.
