President oders probe

President Mahinda Rajapaksa directed the IGP to launch immediate investigations into the attack and bring the suspects involved in the attack to book expeditiously, the Government Information Department said in a communique yesterday.

The Government vehemently condemned yesterday’s attack on the Depanama Studio complex of the Sirasa Media network by an armed gang.

The communique added that Media and Information Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa has also condemned the attack and requested the IGP to conduct immediate investigations into the incident.

Minister Yapa has also requested the security authorities to investigate whether this was part of a well-planned conspiracy to discredit the Government which had earned people’s plaudits at a time when Kilinochchi had been liberated and Security Forces were marching forward successfully to liberate the remaining LTTE bastions.
