The Provincial Council elections are aimed at strengthening the
sovereignty, defeating terrorism and enhancing development.
It is crystal clear that the People’s Alliance will be victorious at
the polls, Minister of Healthcare and Nutrition Nimal Siripala de Silva
said. The Minister was addressing a seminar held at Ibbagamuwa in order
to make the people aware of the present political situation of the
country.
The Minister stated that the Government has taken measures to wipe
out terrorism and enhance development. Our brave war-heroes were able to
re-capture the LTTE stronghold of Kilinochchi. The forthcoming
Provincial Council election is very important for the people.
Although many factions are planning secret agendas to defeat the
Government, the people’s trust is with the Government.
Voters of the North Western Province are determined to strengthen the
hands of President Mahinda Rajapaksa by returning the UPFA to power at
the Provincial Council elctions, he added. Minister of Rural Industries
and Self Employment S. B. Navinna said the UNP would not win the
Provincial Council elections this time too because the people had placed
their trust and confidence in the UPFA Government.
Although the UNP is trying its best to win the Provincial Council
elections, it would be defeated and the UPFA candidates would be able to
get a clear majority. The UNP has gone berserk in the face of continuous
victories gained by Security Forces and massive economic development in
the country.
We have no doubt about our success. It will be greater than the North
Central and Sabaragamuwa victory.
The entire country is rejoicing the victorious march of the Security
Forces in their quest for final victory,” he added.
Minister of Nation Building Salinda Dissanayake said that the UNP had
engineered several conspiracies to topple the Government and as a last
resort it has tried to prevent the GSP-plus tax relief granted by the
European countries.
We can see a large number of UNP and JVP members joining the SLFP
from all over the country. The reason is that they have no confidence in
their leadership. We will get a clear victory because the people of the
North Western Province want to extend their fullest support to the
President,” he added. Manjula Dissanayake, H. B. Herath and several
candidates also spoke. |
