PC poll dates
Rohan MATHES
The polling date for the Wayamba and Central Provincial Councils has
not been fixed yet by the Election Commissioner's office as speculated
in certain media (not of the Lake House group).
Deputy Elections Commissioner W.P. Sumanasuriya told the Daily News
yesterday that the polling date would only be fixed after nominations
for the two Provincial Councils were received. Nominations would be
received up to 12 noon of December 31, Sumanasuriya said.
SLAF attacks cause damage to LTTE bunker lines

Air Force fighter jets and MI24 gunships carried out a series of air
sorties at identified LTTE targets and bunker lines in Kilinochchi
yesterday causing heavy damage to Tiger cadres.
Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said the Air
Force MI24 gunships pounded several LTTE targets located in West and
South of Kilinochchi around 6.45 p.m. "The LTTE suffered heavy damage in
the aerial attack," he added. Meanwhile, the Air Force fighters carried
out air raids targeting the LTTE bunker lines North of Iranamadu and
Kilinochchi town yesterday around 7.30 a.m.
"In another aerial attack, Air Force fighter jets carried out air
sorties targeting the LTTE bunkers located West of Kilinochchi and North
of Iranamadu around 7.45 a.m.
Police carols
Arrangements have been made by the Police Headquarters to hold their
annual Christmas Bakthigee ceremony at the Police Field Headquarters
grounds at Havelock Road, Colombo on December 19 at 7 pm.
Carol service
The Carol Service and the blessing of the Crib at St. Michael and All
Angels, Polwatte, Colombo 3 will be held as usual on Christmas Eve,
Wednesday, December 24 at 6 pm. The Readings will be from 'Book of
Witnesses' by David Kossoff and the Holy Bible.

The annual Christmas Carols and Members' get-together of the Burgher
Association entitled 'Christmas Cheer' will be held on Saturday,
December 20 at 5 pm at the Lion's Activity Centre Hall, Sri
Jayewardenepura Road, Ethul Kotte, Kotte.
Musical show
'Prathiba Prabha - 2' a musical show organised by the Welfare Society
of the Department of Trade, Tariff and Investment Policy of the Ministry
of Finance and Planning in support of the welfare of the needy, will be
held at the Elphinston Theatre at 6.00 p.m. on December 18.
Get-together
The 28th Annual families get-together of Sri Lanka Ex-Air Force
Association will be held on December 21, at the Sri lanka Air Force
Base, Ratmalana from 9 a.m. onwards.
Nativity play
The nativity play of Jesus will be held at the Ramakrishna Mission
Wellawatte on December 24 at 6.45 p.m.
Symposium
The annual symposium of the Post Graduate Faculty of the Kelaniya
University will be held on December 18 and 19 at the University
premises.
The inaugural ceremony will be on December 18 at 8.30 a.m. at the K
2003 Hall.
Rahula
get-together
The Rahula College, Matara 74/75 A/L batch and the 71/72 O\L batch
will have a get-together at 11.45 a.m. at the Unawatuna Beach Resort in
Galle on December 20.
A cricket match will be held between these two groups at 10 a.m. on
December 21 at the Koggala BOI playground.
Healthy
life clinic
The Healthy Life Clinic will conduct a health programme called
"Healthy Makeover" on December 20 from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon.
Lectures
The recital of Badur Mowlood will be conducted at the Nawala Jummah
Mosque.
The programme of Prayers and Religious lectures will commence on
Sunday, December 21 with Rathibathul Jalaliya by Maulavi Hafiz Aadhil,
