Principal caught in the act

A leading school Principal in Banadarawela was nabbed yesterday by
bribery sleuths for accepting gratification of Rs.20,000 from a parent
to grant admission to a grade one child.
Director Investigations Commission to Investigate Allegations of
Bribery or Corruption SSP Neville Guruge said, a woman Principal of a
leading Balika Vidyalaya in Banadarawela had demanded Rs.20,000 from a
parent to grant grade one admission to the child for 2009.
"Following a complaint lodged by the parents, a team from bribery
sleuths arrested the school principal while soliciting the bribe at her
office in the afternoon", SSP Guruge told the Daily News. The suspect
will be produced before the Bandarawela Magistrate today. |
