NCCSL workshop on import procedures
The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka will conduct a One day
Workshop on "Import Procedures and Documentation" on Friday December 19,
at the Chamber Auditorium, 450 D.R. Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo 10,
from 8.30 a.m to 5.00 p.m.
The workshop is designed for those who are involved in
importing,buying and sourcing from overseas.
It provides an insight of the principals involved in successful
importing, tips on how to avoid problems and ensure smooth running of
contracts, profitably.
The participants will have a good broad understanding of the
necessary skills to find and qualify suppliers , seek quotations ,
minimise suppliers mistakes, ensure correct documentation for customs
clearance into Sri Lanka including VAT compliance and complete costing
to ensure profitable trading.
The resource personnel will be Deputy Director-Services, Sri Lanka
Export Development Board S.R.B. N. Piyasiri and Superintendent of
Customs, Sri Lanka Customs J.A. D.A Perera.
The course will include custom import procedures and documentation ,
proof of country of origin, custom's clearance at import, how duty and
other levies are calculated, regulations pertaining to imports &
issuance of licenses for imports-trade policy and role of the
import/export controller.
Sen Flora signs with BoI
Sen Flora entered into an agreement with the BoI to cultivate
vegetables, fruits and cut flowers for both local and export markets at
Nuwara Eliya with an investment of Rs. 55 million.
The product range will include cut flowers, exotic vegetables and
tropical fruits.
The BoI has identified agriculture and agro-industries as an
important sector to promote at a time when there is a growing demand
both locally and internationally for such products.
Director of the company Deepthi Seneviratne said, "we are an
agriculture based family and want to use our knowledge for this
project." She also commended the efficient service offered by the BoI. |
