Nepal Maoists decide to forge republican front
NEPAL: The ruling Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), on
Monday, floated the concept of forming a “republican front” by including
political forces that are committed to nationality and republicanism for
polarization.
According to eKantipur.com report, the Central Committee meeting of
the CPN-M held here supported the proposal for the republican front
tabled by Chairman Prachanda.
The CPN-Maoist chairman introduced the idea of forging an alliance of
republican and nationalist forces at a time when the main opposition
party Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala is talking about
the Broad Democratic Alliance.
“It is our older stance that we should form a broader front of
likeminded forces and we felt the need for the same in the changed
context,” said CPN-Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai.
Likewise, the party is also set to launch its four-month national
awareness campaign in favor of the nationality and republic.
