Navy, sniffer dogs detect narcotics

Police Kennels Unit for the first time has taken steps to train Navy
personnel in detecting narcotics with the help of dogs. Fifteen Navymen
and 15 dogs will undergo the six month intensive training in narcotics
detection at the Police Kennel Headquarters, Kandy shortly, OIC of the
Unit Lal Seneviratne said.
This special training beginning in January will be preceded by a
short term training for top Navy personnel, source said. This sniffer
dog service has been in existence for the past many decades and both the
Army and the Air Force have obtained these facilities. |
