MANNAR: Two pistols and 48 rounds of ammunition were unearthed
from the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) office compound
in Mannar yesterday morning.
UN spokesman Gordon Weiss said the two pistols and 48 rounds of
ammunition were found by a security officer attached to the UN's IOM
office yesterday around 10.00 am.
"The weapons concealed inside a plastic bag were hidden underneath a
stock of firewood at the backyard of the IOM office compound in Mannar,"
Weiss said.
The recovery was made during a daily routine search operation
conducted by UN security officers, he added.
The pistols and ammunition were handed over to Mannar police. Mannar
police are investigating. |
