Large stock of explosives recovered

A large stock of C4 explosives weighing 152kg, a suicide kit and
other warlike items were recovered in Kudapadu, Negombo yesterday.
Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunaskera said a Malaysian citizen was
arrested on suspicion and some warlike items were seized from his
possession on Thursday. “During interrogation, the suspect revealed
information on his accomplice.
Following the information provided by the latter the police seized a
large stock of C4 explosives,” he added. SSP Gunasekera told the Daily
News that the C4 explosives were concealed in 18 plastic packets in a
huge container buried in the backyard of a rented house in Rosary road,
Kudapadu and the high explosives were weighing 152 kg.
Police intelligence also unearthed a suicide kit, two claymore mines,
night vision goggles, wire codes, mobile phones (to be used as remote
control devices) detonators and other warlike items, he added. |
