Two vocational training centres opened

Two vocational training centres set up at Koggala and Hikkaduwa by
the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka were opened by Vocational
and Technical Training Minister Piyasena Gamage and US Ambassador to Sri
Lanka Robert O. Blake.
The United States Development Agency (USAID) spent Rs. 227 million on
this. These are the first two constructed out of the 10 centres
destroyed by the tsunami in the South and East under the reconstruction
project. The total expenditure for the entire project to be spent by the
USAID is Rs. 1,125 million.
Eleven courses in the industrial sector and nine courses in the
textile sector are being taught at the Hikkaduwa and Koggala Centres. |
