Businessman shot dead in Rajagiriya

A leading businessman was shot dead by unknown gunmen yesterday noon at Cooray road, Rajagiriya, police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said.

Following information, police found the body of the man with gunshot injuries yesterday around noon in the back seat of a car bearing the number 301-1957.

SSP Gunasekera said the victim was identified as a leading businessman exporting vegetables and resident of Pannipitiya C.L. Jayathunga ,49.

Rajagiriya police are investigating. Meanwhile, police found a body of a man last morning in front of an abandoned house opposite to the Boralasgamuwa Cargills Food City outlet.

The victim had been identified as P.Nishantha (31) a resident of Suwaripola, Kosthalawatte.

"Preliminary investigations disclosed that the victim was mentally retarded. Police found a piece of cloth tied around his neck," SSP Gunasekera said.
