Grama Niladhari arrested

The Erakkalampatti Grama Niladhari and a Mannar resident were
arrested in connection with their involvement to make a forged Identity
Card for an LTTEer suspected to be behind a plot to assassinate Minister
Douglas Devananda.
Police had recovered the identity card from the possession of Dayalan.
The forged identity card had been made at the instance of a local
LTTE leader and the suspect Grama Niladari had received a gratification
of Rs. 500 for his services.
Meanwhile, police intelligence has discovered Killinochchi-based
Dayalan had planned out several terrorist acts in Kandy.
At the time of his arrest at Kotmale, another LTTE cadre, Gajendran
in his company committed suicide by swallowing a cyanide capsule.
Further, a woman in Mannar suspected to have provided accommodation
to Dayalan was arrested by the police. |
