Shiyam Kumara wins gold medal in Malaysia

J.A.A. Shiyam Kumara of Lake House helped Sri Lanka win a gold medal and four silver medals at the Veterans Athletics Meet held in Malaysia recently.

He won the over 40 age category 400 metres event and came second in the 1500 metres and 800 metres event and was part of the Sri Lanka team which came second in the 4x400 metre and 4x100 metres relays.

He thanked the President of the Lake House sports club and its Athletics Secretary for giving him all encouragement and support to take part in this meet.

He also thanked his sponsors viz manager and staff of the Lake House Circulation Department, M.S.P. Sirilal of the Sri Lanka Police, K.A. Sherwin Senadheera and M.Y.M. Nazeer, proprietor Almai Trading Company.
