Ananda in 21-6 win over Vidyartha

Ananda College, Colombo rubbed salt into the wounds of of Vidyartha
College when they inflicted the ninth successive defeat on their
opponents when they beat them by 21 points (3 tries, 1 penalty, 1 drop
goal) to 6 (2 penalties) in the first leg of the 41st William Gopallawa
Shield rugby encounter played at Nittawela yesterday. At half time
Anandians were ahead leading 11-6.
This was one of the worst ever rugby seasons by Vidyartha as they
lost all their Singer Shield Division One Segment 'A' tournament
matches.
Ananda College scored their tries through centre Nimesh Chathuranga
(1), Winger Ishan Samitha (1) and hooker Eric Balasuriya (1). Centre
Lahiru Gurusinghe executed the drop goal while the penalty was put over
by lock Charith Mapatuna.
For Vidyartha flanker S. Sameera put over two penalties.
