Selection procedure transparent - SLPI

The Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI) said in a news release that it was committed to enhancing the professional standards of Lankan journalists and conducted training programmes both here and abroad for this purpose.

Selections for such programmes had been done according to accepted standards with full transparency, it said.

It said there was no truth in reports that persons connected to the LTTE has been sent abroad for such training programmes. These reports alleged that some of the Tamil persons selected for a training programme in Denmark had no connection to any media organisation.
