Forces, Police personnel shine in Tamil language course
The 75th batch of Police and Security Forces personnel who had
completed a Tamil language training course passed out from the Kotmale
Combined Services Training Institute on Wednesday.
It included 82 Police, Army, Navy and Air Force personnel including
one officer.
Defence Ministry Assistant Secretary W.M.A.S. Wickremasinghe was the
chief guest at the passing out ceremony at which Brig. R.A. Kaduwela,
Maj. A.T.L. Seneviratne and several other military and police top brass
were also associated with him.
The trainees who had completed a 100 day training course, also
displayed their talents in Tamil reading, writing and speech at this
ceremony.
The following won special shields for displaying exceptional skills.
Best overall performance K.R.J. Kularatne, 1st place in written test.
N.P.G.C. Jayalath, Best journalist R.B.W.A. Premachandra.
Trainees passing out from this institute qualify to sit the Tamil
language examination conducted by the Department of Official Languages.
Trainees of the earlier 74th batch had shown 99 per cent success at
this examination.
So far 6,152 Security Forces and Police personnel have completed
training at the Kotmale Training Institute set up to equip them with a
sound knowledge of Tamil to foster better public relations in Tamil
speaking areas. |
