We must counter LTTE misinformation campaign abroad - Mahanayaka Theras

KANDY: It is of paramount importance for our ambassadors to counter the LTTE’s misinformation campaign launched internationally and to enlighten the international community on the true situation in the country, said Asgiriya and Malwatte Prelates when the Ambassador-Designate to U.S.A. Jaliya Wickremasuriya called on them to receive their blessings.

“Certain ambassadors have still failed to convince the international community of the nitty-gritty of the ethnic conflict”, the prelates stressed. “It is a national duty to be performed by every citizen in the interest of his Motherland.”

The Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkhitha Maha Nayaka Thera of the Asgiriya Chapter said by now most of the countries have been able to identify the true nature of the LTTE and the situation can be further ameliorated if our ambassadors commit themselves to it.

When the LTTE lets loose it misinformation campaign it is not for us to remain silent. The Most Venerable Mahanayaka Thera urged Buddhists living in the USA as well to exert their benign influence to counter the false propaganda carried out by the LTTE.

“The Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims lived together in total peace and especially the Sinhalese and Tamils never experienced serious problems between them. What remains is a crisis caused by a group of terrorists,” the Most Venerable Mahanayaka Thera said.

Ven. Suriyagoda Jinasiri Thera and Col. Prasanna Wickremasuriya, Vice-Chairman Sri Lanka Airport and Aviation Services Ltd also participated.
