20 civilians flee Tiger harassment

Twenty civilians including three children from the uncleared area in
Malayanwadu sought protection of the Armed Forces at the Kokilai Army
post in Welioya last morning.
According to a spokesman for the MCNS, 20 civilians comprising six
females and 14 males (including three children) had reached the cleared
area seeking Security Forces protection yesterday at 10.45 a.m.
The civilians complained that they were forced to flee from the
uncleared area due to increasing Tigers harassment, intimidation and
forceful recruitment, he added.
The Security Forces provided them with their needs and temporary
shelter. |
