Committees to ensure children's safety

The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) will set up Child Protection Committees at district level to ensure the children's safety in villages, NCPA Chairman Jagath Wellawatta said.

Wellawatta said these committees will prevent children from becoming victims of child exploitation. It is also expected to build up an active network within villages against child exploitation and identify the real ground situation through these committees.

According to Wellawatta these committees aimed at eradicating child exploitation at village level will also provide a strong base to fight against child abuse.

Child Protection committees were set up in the Ratnapura district recently with the participation of the Ratnapura District Secretary, NCPA Chairman said.
