Ferdinando acting CEB Chairman

COLOMBO: Power and Energy Minister John Seneviratne has appointed Ministry Secretary M.M.C. Ferdinando as the acting Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) following the resignation of its Chairman Udayasiri Kariyawasam, Ministry sources said yesterday.

There is no change in the CEB Board of Directors, sources said.

Sources said the main reason to appoint a new chairman was to establish a conducive working environment among CEB employees.

The CEB Union had discussions with President Mahinda Rajapaksa and demanded an environment conducive for work. Meanwhile, CEB engineers called off their work-to-rule campaign after President Rajapaksa pledged to look into the CEB engineers’ grievances.

Meanwhile, Power and Energy Minister would appoint R.V.D. Piyathilake, B.A. Galwatte, K.A. Ranaweera and Lalith de Silva to the CEB Board, the Ministry official told the Daily News. He also said that a few more appointments are also to be made into the Board.
