Ampara public market to be developed
The Ampara Public Market is to be developed at a cost of Rs. 20
million by the Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Ministry as
part of the Negenahira Navodaya project.
Minister Dinesh Gunawardena initiated the programme by laying the
foundation stone for the extension work.
Southern Provincial Council Minister U.G.D. Ariyatillaka, Ampara
Urban Council Chairman Sarath Deshapriya and Urban Development Ministry
and NHDA district officials were present.
An Urban Development Ministry release said this is part of the
Ministry programme to develop the historic Ampara city which lacked
behind development earlier due to the conflict and the tsunami.
The Development plan for Ampara town included the renovation of its
road network and building of a new Courts Complex and an urban housing
complex.
The work would be handled by the NHDA Ampara sub office. |
