Government committed to consolidate peace, harmony

Colombo: President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said the Government is committed to consolidate law and order and peace harmony with the help of heroic Forces who have already liberated the Eastern province.

The soldiers have rendered a yeoman service to eliminate terrorism. It is the responsibility of the Government to look after the welfare of the war heroes and their families. The President was speaking at a ceremony at Temple Trees yesterday to declare a month for war heroes from today to June 7.

The main objective is to honour the war heroes who made the Supreme Sacrifice to safeguard the Motherland. The heroic soldiers have dedicated their lives for the benefit of the people. Although they fight bravely at the war front against the terrorists they treat the civilians with humanitarian attitudes.

The President praised the service rendered by the soldiers for development. A flag to honour the heroic soldiers was also issued and a daughter of a war hero sold the first flag to the President at the event.
