"Igniting Passion- Blazing Trails is the theme under which four main pillars Peace Building, Innovation, Global Branding and Leadership would be deliberated and the finding publicised at the inaugural CIMA World conference, to be held from May 28 to 31 in Colombo.

John Hume

CIMA Sri Lanka Division said eminent speakers specialised under each pillar would be flown in to address the gathering of overseas and local participants.Heading the pillar on peace building will be John Hume who out of uncertainties, is regarded as one of the most important figures in the modern political history of Northern Ireland and one of the architects of the Northern Ireland peace process.

Hume is a civil rights campaigner and politician in Northern Ireland, he is the cofounder and long time leader of the Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP).

In October 1998 Hume and Ulster Unionist Party leader David Trimble were awarded the 1998 Nobel Peace Prize for their work on the Northern Ireland peace agreement.

Hume, citing his declining health, resigned as leader of the SDLP in October 2001. Hume will be one of the imminent personalities who would speak on peace building at the CIMA World Conference.
