CPC JVP chief in remand

Central Provincial Council JVP head, Samansiri Fernando was remanded till today by Kandy Additional Magistrate, Ayesha Aabdeen when he was charged with unlawful assembly, criminal trespass and causing grievous injuries to veterinary surgeon Sumith Wanniarachchi, a close ally of former JVP stalwart Wimal Weerawansa.

The victim has since been hospitalised.

According to the Police, a few more arrests are to be made shortly.

Balagolla Police is conducting investigations.
