UPFA will record landslide victory - Azwer

The UPFA will record a landslide victory at the May 10 Provincial Council polls in the East, President's Advisor and former Muslim Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Minister A.H.M. Azwer said yesterday.

CPC JVP chief in remand

Central Provincial Council JVP head, Samansiri Fernando was remanded till today by Kandy Additional Magistrate, Ayesha Aabdeen when he was charged with unlawful assembly, criminal trespass and causing grievous injuries to veterinary surgeon Sumith Wanniarachchi, a close ally of former JVP stalwart Wimal Weerawansa.
