Forces advance in Muhamalai

JAFFNA: The Security Forces advanced 500 metres ahead of the Muhamalai Forward Defence Line yesterday killing 52 LTTE cadres and injuring many others in a pre-emptive attack in the Muhamalai and Kilaly frontier, Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said.

Plea for Madhu Statue to be placed in cleared area

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Minister Felix Perera yesterday requested the leadership of the Catholic clergy to assist the endeavour to place the sacred statue of Our Lady of Madhu in an area controlled by the Government so that people of all communities could worship it freely without any security concerns.
