Province Election heightened activity was witnessed on the campaign
trail with the United People's Freedom Alliance already raising the
tempo with a vigourous house to house canvassing beginning yesterday
chiefly aimed at forging unity among the once divided Sinhala, Tamil
and Muslim communities in the East.

President lauds commitment of Maha Sangha
President Mahinda Rajapaksa re-iterates there is
absolute freedom of worship, for anyone to follow any religion, at
his/her discretion. President Rajapaksa made this re-iteration at
