Annual Accounts Reports ready for Parliament scrutiny - Minister

The Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry has released the reports of the Annual Accounts of all institutions coming under the Ministry for Parliament scrutiny, under Minister Karu Jayasuriya's directions.

Minister Jayasuriya issued a directive that all Annual Accounts Reports should be ready within 150 days following the finalising of accounts.

He made it clear that there would be no time for post-review in Parliament occasioned by delays in putting out annual accounts. Minister Jayasuriya said instructions were given to all District Secretariats to produce their annual accounts reports in time.

There will be no value in these reports if they were not produced in time, the Minister noted. Similar instructions issued by the Treasury earlier had not produced results with many Ministries and Statutory Boards falling behind the schedule, the Minister observed.
