Pakistani PM asks people to show patience on energy crisis
PAKISTAN: Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani
Monday appealed to people of the whole country to show patience and
restrain from violence since it would not help to overcome the energy
crisis.
Referring to the violent protest in Multan city in the eastern Punjab
province against energy crisis, Gillani said that the issues of
electricity, energy shortage and wheat crises had been inherited by the
present government.
The Associated Press of Pakistan quoted Gillani as saying that the
government was striving to resolve the problems on war-footing.
Gillani said he had already directed the Minister for Water and Power
to personally visit different regions and take immediate measures to
deal with the energy problems.
Violence broke out in Multan on Monday as demonstrators took to the
street to protest against power shortage.
Mobs set ablaze vehicles and burnt the office of electricity supply
to unleash their anger towards the load-shedding due to power shortage.
