Turnover remains low

The market started the holiday shortened week on a dull note as turnover remained low, but the indices moved up on selective buying.

The ASPI closed up 10 points (+0.42%) at 2625 whereas the MPI gained 15 points (+0.48%) to close at 3291. SLT (Rs 23 million), CFLB (Rs 7.2 million), Hayley's (Rs 6.9 million) Pan-Asia Bank (Rs 6.8 million) and Coco-Lanka (Rs 3.9 million) were the biggest contributors to turnover.

The top advancers for the day were Seylan Merchant (nv) by 17% to Rs 0.70, Eagle Insurance by 6% to Rs 21.75, Amana Takaful Insurance by 6% to Rs 14.00, Associated Properties 5% to Rs 58.00 and Coco Lanka by 5% to Rs 24.75
