Suspected woman LTTEer was a hermaphrodite

A hilarious story where a woman arrested on suspicion by police turned out to be a hermaphrodite is reported from Kananke Imaduwa.

A spokesman for the Kananke police said people in Imaduwa bazzar had seen a woman dressed in a saree with a nice hairdo and make up to match, loitering in the bazzar one morning. As she was a stranger to the area they suspected her to be an LTTE terrorist on a spying mission and alerted police.

On receiving the complaint, Kananke police OIC Tilak Pushpakumara accompanied by a posse of woman constables made a bee line to Imaduwa bazzar and arrested the woman. After taking the suspect to the police station, the OIC detailed two women constables to take her inside a cell and conduct a body search prior to interrogation. The two women constables to their consternation found the woman to be a hermaphrodite and reported to the OIC.

Following interrogation the suspect confessed to having visited a beauty saloon in Akuressa town in the morning and got her dressed up before arresting in Imaduwa town. The suspect was later severely warned and discharged.
