Fashion designers for Triumph award

Fashion and design students from more than 26 countries around the world, including Sri Lanka, will compete for the first ever "Triumph Inspiration Award" (TIA), a global design competition created by lingerie specialist Triumph International. In its inaugural year, the design motto focuses on "Female Fascination".

Triumph International is interested in the inspiration and creativity regarding the theme, on both a national and international basis. Consequently, the Award does not focus attention on the technical perfection of the showpiece. General Manager Triumph International Lanka Pvt Ltd Shalindra Fernando said that the contestants at the Sri Lankan National Competition will be given specific training on lingerie design by a panel of experts attached to Design Studios of MAS Holding.

Nearly 30 students from the International Academy of Design and the Department of Fashion Technology of the University of Moratuwa will take part in the Sri Lankan National Competition to be held in May this year.

The winner of the Sri Lankan National Competition will be flown to Beijing China on an all expenses paid tour where he/she will meet winners of all 26 national competitions around the world.

The international winner, who will be chosen by distinguished experts from the fields of design, fashion and media and will see his/her showpiece adapted and interpreted by the Triumph design team, leading to series production of the set. In addition there will be an exciting cash prize of Euro 15,000", Fernando added.

The lucky young creative will have the chance to be international recognised as an 'up-and-coming talent', a rare opportunity for young designers at the beginning of their careers. The second and third place winners will receive Euros 10,000 and Euros 5,000 respectively. Triumph is one of the world's largest underwear manufacturers. Sri Lankan operators were launched 14 years ago.
