HP eye to enhance more operations

The Hewlett-Packard (HP) to focus more on warranty capabilities,
services and support structures in its Sri Lankan operations.
Senior Vice President Personal Systems Group and SMB of HP Asia
Pacific and Japan, Adrian Koch told media yesterday that they not only
focus on marketing in the local market but also plans to invest more on
warranty capabilities, services and support structures in its Sri Lankan
operations.
HP believes now it's opportune to invest in Sri Lanka and the company
will increase its geographic presence in Sri Lanka. "Sri Lanka has
become an important part of our growth strategy and it is also a growing
market for HP," he said.
Talking about the Sri Lankan market Koch said that in the desktop
category, HP has 16.4 per cent market share and it has 41.1 per cent
market share for portable items in the local market.
Now the trend is moving towards notebooks and this segment has
contributed 52 per cent for the total revenue of HP in first quarter
this year and contributed 41 per cent for the total revenue, he said.
General Manager, Asia Emerging Countries Personal Systems Group HP,
Prasenjit Sarkar said their main customers in Sri Lanka are in the
fields of telecommunication and banking. There is a huge demand for
portables from NGOs and SMEs in Sri Lanka.
Vice President, South East Asia and Taiwan Personal Systems Group HP
Chin-Teik said that 3G coverage in Sri Lanka is good.
3G will enhance computer capability and mobility, he said. |
