Woman donor rudeness, outdated cheese irk child cancer patients,
parents
Parents of children warded at the children ward (15A) of the
Maharagama Cancer Institute have expressed concern about the rude
behaviour of a woman donor who had arrived at the ward to distribute
biscuits and cheese among its inmates recently.
Report said the woman who had arrived in the ward in shoes ignoring
warnings to visitors to remove shoes when entering the ward for purposes
of cleanliness, had shouted at the senior registrar of the hospital in
harsh words when the registrar pointed out the warning, claiming no one
could obstruct her as she was known to the Deputy Director.
However, the woman had made a hasty retreat when one of the mothers
pointed out that the cheese given to children was outdated and infested
with weevils.
The registrar had soon notified this to the hospital PHI who
collected the stock of cheese and sealed it.
The registrar said donors had to make an appointment with hospital
authorities and fix a date before distributing food and other items
among inmates.
This particular donar had come without making a proper appointment.
