Top Tiger arrested in Colombo

The Defence Ministry said on Wednesday that the person arrested by Police in Pettah on Monday was a number one LTTE terrorist suspected to have a hand in many civilian massacres carried out by the LTTE in the South.

Air Force bomb Tiger artillery command centre

Air Force supersonic fighter jets pounded an LTTE artillery command centre and underground bunker in Kulumpakulam, Palai causing heavy damages to the Tiger installation, Wing Commander Andrew Wijesuriya said.

Nearly 6,500 Tigers killed since 2006

The Government has the upper hand in a new phase of the war against the Tigers, but it would be foolish to write them off, experts say. Since the start of 2006, a total of 6,486 Tigers, 1,196 military personnel and 982 civilians have been killed, the military says, estimating there are now only around 5,000 Tiger fighters still alive.
