AIESEC undergrads to help underprivileged schoolchildren
AIESEC, the world's largest student run international organisation
provides an international platform for young people to develop and
discover their potential. It moulds young undergraduates to develop
themselves to change agents who would bring about a positive change in
the society.
This platform provides opportunities for students to have leadership
roles, learning networks, organise workshops and conferences and mainly
to work abroad. This organisation operates in over 1100 universities in
101 countries and territories with over 28,000 undergraduates taking up
over 5000 leadership positions and about 5000 work abroad opportunities
annually.
AIESEC in Sri Lanka is one of the strongest aspects of the
international network of AIESEC, with over 100 undergraduates from the
Universities of Sri Jayewardenepura, Moratuwa, Kelaniya and Colombo.
AIESEC chapter of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura is launching a
project on education focused on improving the English language knowledge
of students of underprivileged schools.
Two schools in Colombo and four in Negombo have requested for foreign
undergrads to teach English in order to enhance their language,
communication and presentation skills. |
