Nalaka to don soccer boots

Nalaka Weerakkody the famous Kandy Sports Club and Sri Lanka ruggerite who hung up his rugby boots at the end of last season will return to soccer this year and will turn out for Ratnams sports club in the tournaments to be played this year.

This was revealed to this writer by Weerakkody.

It must be recalled that Weerakkody broke into the sports scene as a soccerite and was a junior international and was also the vice captain of the Sri Lanka schools team as a centre half.

He also turned out for Hylines SC Kandy but gave more of his time to rugby at national and international level.

It's left to be seen how he will fare in the soccer scene.
