Why a conflict?
The outcome of the Second World War paved the way
for the emergence of the USSR as a World Super Power. Its
contribution to the victory of the Allied Powers entitled the USSR
to this status. The emergence of the Soviet Union as a World power
had in turn a tremendous impact on the traditional Imperial Powers.
