New SLT Chairman

Board member of Sri Lanka Telecom Leisha Chandrasena has been appointed chairperson with effect from yesterday.

Former Chairman Asoka Weerasinghe de Silva has resigned from the board an official said. He was also a government nominee.

SLID on boardroom challenges

The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) has organised a session where discussions will be conducted in four groups, each of which will concentrate on the balance of influence between executive and independent directors, role of the Chairman vis-a-vis the Chief Executive Officer, composition of the Board and Executive Committee's accountability to the Board.

The interactive session will be at 5.00 pm onwards at the Taj Samudra Hotel (On Golden Pond) on Wednesday March 5.
